I am often influenced by music in my visual work and the music that comes to mind is Neil Diamonds ‘Lonely Looking Sky’

Last of the Summer Leaves

While walking to the letter box and noticed the red leaves. Although taken in sombre light the leaves reminded me that in a few months time the tree will be decked out in a display of cherry blossoms, I planted the eucalyptus tree in the background 30 years ago and the cherry tree grow from a seed. Winter is a time for inner reflection on bygone days.

Tranquil garden

The tranquil garden that surround the Buddhist Temple in Wollongong’ on the South cost of NSW brings the active mind into a state contemplation and reflection on life and its meaning. A photograph often has a calming effete that sooths the mind.

An interesting idea came while listening to a radio interview. The idea came from an author who wrote a book about where he lived by placing a saucer over his house on a map and drawing a line around it and then researching the area inside the circle, it history, people and buildings. What a great idea for a photographic series. Sometimes we can travel all over the world only to find that the real treasures of our life are on our doorstep.

The photograph

I did not need to go very fare to find my first photograph a branch of a tree with brilliant autumn colour lit by the morning sun was framed by my bedroom window.

Sounds of the Sea

Photographers and their Images, is a book featuring famous photographers. One photograph that stands out in the book is a photograph taken in 1954 by world famous photographer Yousuf Karsh, of the master of the Cello, Pablo Casals. A story is told about an elderly gentleman who would stand each day in front of the photograph. When the curator of the Gallery asked why he came each day he is told, ‘Hush, can’t you see, I am listening to the music’, such is the power of the photograph.

A world become visible

On a misty morning it’s not the object you can see that are important it is what you can’t see that’s the mystery. As the fog lifts a whole world become visible, it is synonymous with life there are things which we have no knowledge of until the light of understanding illuminates our life.
